Day 17 – Mobile Magnets of Inspiration

Day 17 – Mobile Magnets of Inspiration

This game is going to take a little effort.  That’s a good thing.  It is a testament to our level of commitment.  I had this idea a while back, but haven’t actually gotten to play this game myself yet.  Not knowing how it will turn out is part of my excitement right now.  It will be fun though!  I know I always say that, but how else would I keep you engaged?

I was at Barnes & Noble one day just before Christmas.  Mya was eyeballing a calligraphy set, so I stopped back in to grab it.  I got sidetracked in the section upstairs with all the journals and inspiring stuff.  Barnes & Noble is one of those stores I could spend all day wandering around touching everything I can get my hands on.  This day was no exception.

To my excitement I came across something that made me instantly happy…Quotable Magnets.  Have you ever seen these?  Simple, 3.5” x 3.5” magnets, in black and white, printed with various uplifting and encouraging quotes.  I almost bought them all!  There was one problem.  I hate magnets on my frig.  I am of the belief you are either one of two people, a refrigerator magnet person or normal.  Haha.  Just kidding.  If you come to my house you will see that I have magnets; however, that is mostly because I have learned, over the years, to pick my battles.

I was dealing with a real problem here.  At $4.95 each, and filled with all the inspiration necessary to cheer up the grumpiest of people, they had my name all over them!  But, where could I put these magnets that would not tickle the edges of my OCD?  Then it came to me…my car!  I could find no objection to this compromise in my mind.  How fun was that?  Tons of fun, I told myself!  That’s about the time I got a phone call and was distracted from my mission.  The thought of filling every square inch of Bessie (that’s my car’s name) with Quotable Magnets has never left me.

Thankfully my sane mind entered this grand plan.  It would take a ton of magnets to cover Bessie, a Ford Flex, but I am not one to let a dream die.  Instead the game was modified.  What if, I put the magnets on other people’s cars?  Spread the love around?  And so here you have it, today’s game:  Mobile Magnets of Inspiration.  Yeah, the name needs a little work, but you get where we are going.

Head to your nearest Barnes & Noble.  Buy a magnet or five.  Put them on different people’s cars without them knowing.  Don’t stalk anyone, just gently place it on their car without damaging it, and walk away.  (I’m a sucker for a beautiful car, so maybe steer clear of the expensive ones.)  Feel the happiness in your soul imagining the difference it will make for someone when they come to find it.  Think about how they will feel if they really needed encouragement that day.

How will you know you’ve won the game?  Two ways:  1. The moment the magnet is set in place. You win! 2.  When a magnet comes back to you one day because our game spread like wild fire!  We are creating a “drive-by” of a whole new kind.  One filled with love, friendliness, and above all inspiration.  Good luck!
